D’Oro / Chorale was written specifically for those instruments in the ensemble that are from earlier times. The idea was to have a sort of favola in musica. Hence, alternate songful Arias with instrumental Ritornelli to carefully shape musical time for expressive and organic purposes.
The musical material of the opening section is used and transformed throughout the piece and reappears in a final jubilant Chorale at the very ending of the Piece.
